ORTHO INDUSTRY NEWS Align Partners with DentalXP to Launch Global Online Invisalign Certification Program Align Technology Inc, has launched its Orthodontic Aligner Fellowship Certificate Program, an online training program to provide general practitioner dentists with professional education to help inte-grate Invisalign clear aligner ther-apy and iTero intraoral scanning into their practice. The program is a collaboration between Align Tech-nology and DentalXP, a dental education provider and will be hosted on the DentalXP website. According to Align Technology, the program will consist of approxi-mately 30 hours of training provided by experts in the field. The program is divided into 10 separate lesson plans, with content The aligner fellowship program includes Invisalign training for those participants who are not already an Invisalign trained doctor. The online curriculum is intended to allow general practitioners to maintain the day-to-day practice while fulfilling the requirements of the program at their convenience. Upon completion of the modular certificate program, participants will receive continuing education credits and an official Certificate of Completion endorsed by New York University College of Dentistry. Orthodontic Wax Alternative Now Available OrthoDots ® CLEAR is an orthodontic wax alternative and created to meet the aesthetic demands of customers. OrthoDots CLEAR combines a proprietary moisture activated adhe-sive with a medical-grade silicone. It can be used with all orthodontic appliances including clear aligner trays and attachments. OrthoDots comes in hygienic single-use packaging, which allows for product traceability and tamper evidence, as is found with similar healthcare products. In June, the company announced that it is funding a free product plan to all orthodontic resident programs in North America. OrthoDots CLEAR, which has been available in the United States since the end of 2017, will launch in the next few months with select global and regional partners. It can now be sold in Canada, the European Union, Australia, and 24 other countries. Portable, Handheld Intraoral X-ray System create a “safe zone” for the operator throughout the acquisition process. The KaVo NOMAD Pro 2 features the latest in x-ray technology, including a 0.4 mm focal spot plus a 60 kV DC x-ray generator. It also features an intuitive user interface and ergonomic design. The user interface is designed to allow clinicians to easily adhere to ALARA and select the right dose for a patient’s particular need by choosing from a variety of easy-to-under-stand graphic settings. The device, which can be moved easily between operatories and allows clinicians to remain chair-side, includes leading-industry battery technology that provides more reliable and long-lasting battery life. According to the company, the device is ready for use right out of the box. The new KaVo NOMAD Pro 2, a portable, handheld intraoral x-ray system, has been released. The KaVo NOMAD Pro 2 features a lead-infused acrylic shield that protects the operator from scatter radiation while an internal proprietary hous-ing encases the x-ray tube to block radiation leakage.
