Common Techniques to Provisionalize Missing Anterior Teeth Table 1 summarizes the positives and negatives of each of these techniques. Flipper is a pink acrylic provisional with replacement teeth processed into the supporting acrylic (A-B). Retention is aided by the acrylic projections fitting snugly between the teeth. Metal clasps may be used to increase retention. Snap on Smile10 is a tooth borne removable prosthesis made with a milled acetal resin (A and B). Essix Matrix4 is clear and thin (0.75mm) material sucked down over a fully dentate model. Partial Denture: Prosthetic denture teeth are processed into the supporting acrylic. The prosthetic teeth and acrylic are supported by the metal partial framework. Maryland Bridge14 is metal framework with a porcelain tooth/teeth baked onto the framework (Fig. 3). The metal wings are bonded to the lingual surfaces of the prepped adjacent teeth. TADs2 or Mini Implants1 are used as abutments for provisional crowns. Encore Bridge consists of a fiber reinforced composite bridge framework (A) with a pressed ceramic veneer pontic that attaches to the framework (B). Ribbond Bridge15 consists of a polyethylene fiber mesh framework with a pontic (type to be determined by the clinician) that bonds to the framework. 40 Fall 2017 JAOS
